September 1st saw the launch of the 2009 HSE ladder safety campaign and once again Ladderstore and Ladder Log are one of the campaign partners. As a provider of ladders, bespoke access solutions, ladder safety tagging systems and safety training, Ladderstore is well placed to support the initiative.
Through the Ladder Exchange initiative, the HSE will be providing employers with the opportunity to exchange bent, broken or battered ladders for new ones at a discounted price.
Ladderstore has further pledged to give a free ladder tagging starter pack worth £34.44, a ladder safety checklist which can be downloaded free, and discounts off new ladder orders linked to the HSE campaign to companies interested in participating in the exchange and who may want to check their existing ladders. Working with ladder manufacturers all over the UK and Europe, Ladderstore is well-placed to source all types of ladders at highly competitive prices and offers a Price Match promise.
For those in the north-west with dodgy ladders to dispose of, Ladderstore has a drop-off point if a replacement ladder is being purchased. Visitors to the HSE website at www.hse.gov.uk/falls/ladderexchange.htm can select the link ladderstore.com/hse to access these offers or else call Ladderstore on 0204 590232.
Peter Brown HSE Head of Work Environment, Radiation and Gas Division said:
In 2007/08 58 workers died and over 3600 were seriously injured as a result of a fall from height in the workplace. Over a quarter of these incidents involved ladders. We want anyone working at height to use the right ladder for the job and to use it safely. Ladder Exchange is the perfect opportunity for businesses to assess the risks involved in using ladders and to adopt sensible health and safety measures.
Gail Hounslea, Managing Director of Ladderstore, commenting on this year’s campaign said:
Providing safe methods for working at height is the reason we are in business, which is why we are proud to have been partners of the HSE’s Ladder Exchange programme since its start. Anything that removes dodgy ladders and promotes regular ladder safety checks has our continued support and we look forward to this campaign being every bit as successful as those previously.
